• In 1897, Sevillian coffee roaster Juan Ferrer emigrated from Colombia to Seville to realize a lifelong dream: to make people happy with a perfect cup of coffee. He opened a modest shop in the heart of the city's historic center and named his coffee "Catunambú," in honor of an indigenous tribe. Little did he know at the time that his passion for offering premium coffee to the most discerning customers and the foundations of his expertise would still be alive today, more than 120 years later.

After all these years, at Catunambú we remain faithful to the values of our founder. With the same energy and passion, our now 4th generation of master roasters sticks to what they do best: selecting, roasting, blending, and preparing the finest coffee in the traditional way.

It's no surprise, then, that in every cup of Catunambú coffee you can taste our heritage, passion, unity, and zest for life. A coffee with an intense aroma, exceptional flavor, and freshness, sealed in each package.

  • What began as a small shop offering fresh, aromatic premium coffee has grown into one of the most iconic and well-known coffee brands in Spain. Furthermore, for several years now, Catunambú has also been present in the best coffee shops on five continents.

Although the production techniques once used by Ferrer have given way to more modern methods and technology, our family is dedicated to keeping our founder's legacy and values alive. Selecting the finest beans from the world's finest coffees, taking into account the different blends, techniques, and aromas, we deliver a special flavor in every drop. An incomparable taste sensation that your discerning guest will surely appreciate. They deserve the best, right?

More than a century sharing aroma and tradition

A look back at our history...

Our origins...

At the end of the 19th century, a coffee enthusiast named Juan Ferrer , originally from Colombia, arrived in Seville . He brought not only coffee beans, but also a culture of dedication, aromas, and flavors that would mark the beginning of a tradition. From the very beginning, Juan's goal was clear: to share his passion for good coffee, selecting the finest varieties and roasting them himself in his own establishment, where the blend of aromas began to become part of the city's soul.

As expected, his charisma and knowledge quickly made their mark.

Where does the name 'Catunambú' come from?

The name Catunambú is a story in itself. Originating from a Colombian indigenous tribe, it evokes a connection to the land, authenticity, and the ancestral tradition of coffee.

Juan Ferrer chose it for its symbolic power, capable of conveying the exotic, mysterious and genuine character of the coffee he made.

Since then, Catunambú is not just a brand: it's a philosophy of life around coffee.

The birth of a legendary brand

In 1910, the first roastery-shop opened in the heart of Seville: Casa Catunambú . There, coffees from different origins were slowly blended over low heat until the perfect combination was found.

Coffee was roasted daily in small batches to ensure freshness and quality, something revolutionary for the time.

Casa Catunambú was a pioneer in understanding that roasting was an art , not simply a process. Its artisanal approach became a hallmark that has endured for more than a century.

Growth and expansion with soul

Over the decades, Catunambú has become a benchmark for coffee in Andalusia . The brand grew with the help of cafes, bars, and households that trusted the quality of our unmistakable flavor.

The name Catunambú also began to be heard outside of Seville, reaching new markets with the same artisanal essence.

Despite our growth, at Catunambú we have never stopped roasting at our source, maintaining the care of each bean, the meticulous selection of raw materials, and family tradition.

Innovation and legacy: a perfect balance

Today, Catunambú is a modern brand that has managed to adapt to changing times without losing its identity.

We are committed to innovation in our roasting and packaging processes , ensuring maximum freshness, food safety, and traceability.

At the same time, we continue to work with the original recipes, preserving the same traditional aroma that captivated generations of Andalusians.

Furthermore, our commitment to sustainability and fair trade reinforces a modern and responsible vision of the coffee business.

International expansion

Although Catunambú was born in Seville, our coffee and its unmistakable aroma and flavor have traveled much further.

Today, Catunambú is present in more than 30 countries and continues to conquer palates in Europe, Asia, America, and the Middle East.

However, this international expansion hasn't made us forget our roots: the Andalusian character, the authentic flavor, and the love for each cup remain intact.

Our current affairs

With over a century of roasting unique moments behind us, Catunambú isn't just coffee: it's a way of sharing, enjoying, and living. The greatness of our brand lies in making our customers happy with a good cup of coffee .

Each cup contains a story that began more than 125 years ago and continues to be written with every sip.
