Single origin coffee
Catunambú Origins Coffee
Our Origins range brings together single-origin coffees selected for their excellent cup profile, freshness, and traceability. These coffees are grown at altitude, hand-picked, and lovingly processed by small producers. Although not all of them have an official SCA rating, their quality is far superior to that of conventional coffee.
Each Origins coffee is an invitation to discover genuine flavors and profiles that express the character of its land of origin. Perfect for everyday use for those seeking something more than just "a cup of coffee."
Do you have any questions?
We'll solve them for you:
What is specialty coffee?
When we talk about specialty coffee, we're talking about the highest quality coffee, rated with a score of over 80 out of 100 by the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association). It's grown under ideal conditions on some of the world's most prestigious farms, hand-selected, and carefully roasted to highlight its unique characteristics: fruity, floral, and sweet notes... A world of flavors beyond the typical "coffee taste"!
How is it different from commercial coffee?
Commercial coffee is often blended from different qualities and origins, without traceability or exhaustive control. Specialty coffee, on the other hand, is transparent: you know which farm it comes from, how it was grown and roasted. The quality is so high that there's no need to hide defects with very dark roasts or added sugars.
Why is specialty coffee more expensive?
Because behind every cup of specialty coffee, there is a lot of work, traceability, and passion for coffee, which justifies its price:
- These are coffees that come from small farms, sustainable crops, and hand-picked.
- It comes from fair trade and direct relationships with producers.
- The cultivation processes are slow and detailed, guaranteeing quality and flavor.
Where does your coffee come from?
Our coffees come from selected farms in some of the best coffee origins in the world, such as Colombia, Ethiopia, Brazil, Guatemala, and Kenya, among others. We work with producers who cultivate with respect for the land, people, and flavor. Each product sheet details the origin, processing, and tasting profile.
How should I prepare this type of coffee at home?
You don't need professional equipment, just curiosity! Use filtered water, weigh your coffee and water, and choose a brewing method that works for you: French press, V60, AeroPress, or even an Italian coffee maker. Grinding your coffee just before brewing makes all the difference. You'll find step-by-step guides for each method on our blog.
Can I drink specialty coffee if I'm not an expert?
Of course! Specialty coffee isn't just for baristas. It's designed for you to enjoy a different experience, discovering new flavors and aromas. You don't need any technical knowledge, just a desire to enjoy a good cup of coffee and explore its different preparations. And if you have any questions, contact us! We're here to help :)
What does a tasting note like “floral” or “citrus” mean?
They are descriptors of the coffee's natural flavor, derived from the type of bean, the terroir (climate, altitude, soil), and the drying or fermentation process. No flavors are added—nothing artificial! Like wine, each coffee has distinct nuances.
How long does coffee last once opened?
To enjoy it at its best, it's best to consume it within 2–4 weeks of opening. Even if properly stored, coffee can last a very long time! Store it in an airtight container, away from sun, heat, and humidity. And, very important: we recommend grinding it just before use ;)
